Psychopharmacology

Starting medications is an important decision. We will work with you closely to understand and find the right medications to help you. Each individual is unique and sometimes the first or choice of medications does not work optimally. When medications are not working we have access to pharmacogenetic testing that may help clarify your individual metabolic profile which may help explain why certain medications are not working and help guide the choice of further medication trials.

Neurofeedback

Neurofeedback is treatment that helps the brain learn to be more efficient. Neurofeedback has been around for several decades and is used in a number of different applications. It has been helpful in treating anxiety disorder, PTSD, substance use disorders, and performance anxiety.

dTMS

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation is an FDA approved treatment for Major Depressive Disorders. We offer treatment with the Brainsway dTMS device.

dTMS involves the application of rapid pulses of magnetic stimulation to the brain in a predefined area of the brain that has been demonstrated to treat depression. Treatment consists of 5 times weekly application of the dTMS for approxmately four to five weeks. The Brainsway device offers a deeper penetration of the magnetic pulse and as a result has been found to have a more rapid onset of response, usually in 20-25 treatments rather than 35 treatments as with other devices currently on the market. Most insurances now cover dTMS but in order to qualify for insurance coverage individuals will need to have attempted treatment with four antidepressants and several augmentation strategies or have been unable to tolerate treatment with antidepressants.
